I'm sorry but I need to say this. As of Wednesday, RP had 9 reported cases of H1N1 cases and I believe that the numbers are still rising. And you know what, RP tried to conceal this important information until CNA reported it and they finally had no choice but to email us. Like wtf? And some stupid faci even said that it's non of our business. He should be fired and get the flu and see if it's our business or not. Sickening!
Rumors has it that the flu has already hit 20 in RP alone. And guess what, only the year ones are "safe" at home doing elearning. Like wtf?! Why shouldn't the whole school just do elearning? Year 2s and 3s immune to H1N1 virus is it? Or year 1s hotter than year 2s and 3 isit? Super stupid. And have you read the news lately?
"95 new H1N1 cases raise total infected in S'pore to 315" -CNA
Scary shit. And guess what RP told their year 2s and 3s:"Dear students, There is a great amount of speculation and confusion going around. But first, let us reassure you that Republic Polytechnic (RP) cares deeply for the health and safety of everyone – staff and students. The following is what RP is presently doing to contain the A-H1N1 virus on campus.
First, RP is not a breeding ground of the virus. It was unfortunate that a few students, who caught the virus elsewhere, transmitted it to some of their fellow students. These infected students were sent for medical attention immediately. Their classmates were sent for medical testing as well. The classrooms that they were in have been disinfected and sealed. Do note that this virus cannot survive for more than eight hours. And we have shut off those rooms for more hours than that now. The public facilities, including corridors, toilets, lifts and other common areas are sanitised by our cleaners daily.
Also, the virus does not spread through the air or through airconditioning ducts. It is transmitted person to person within close proximity of two metres. You can read all all about this at www.rp.sg/flu. RP is now conducting contact tracing and issuing Leave of Absence (LOA) to affected staff and students. The move to grant LOA is part of RP's precautionary measures to contain the spread of A-H1N1 – that means keep the H1N1 virus out of RP and allow the unaffected students to continue to learn in a safe environment. This is why we have implemented e-learning to students who are on Leave of Absence. Understand that the situation is dynamic and evolving. Be reassured that RP will take immediate and the right actions as the situation evolves. Speculation and spreading rumours won’t help the situation. So stay calm and wait for further instructions and if you need further clarification, kindly email help-flu@rp.sg . Thank you. "
And what this guy said is damn true. Totally have to agree with him:
"i agree with Justin Lee. I mean, im from E2 too, and im on the fourth floor, meaning that during the break times, we would be sharing the same lift as those from the sixth floor. how are we to be sure that we are all safe? RP just sent an email stating that it is IMPOSSIBLE for the virus to be spread through the aircon ducts and that it is transmitted person to person within close proximity of two metres. the lifts already fits into that proximity.
the email also stated that the virus cannot survive for more than eight hours and that public facilities, including corridors, toilets, lifts and other common areas are sanitised by our cleaners daily. So do you guys clean it when we're in the canteens, with the eminent possibility of a spread there?"
YAH LAH. As if we don't come into contact within 2m in the lift. As if we won't come into contact at the bus stop/on the bus. What if they sneezed into the air like 3 seconds ago and I was right after him at that very spot inhaling his germs?! It takes about 1 week to show symptoms. I might be fine now but you'll never know when I'm gonna get unlucky and get that virus. People are always saying "Aiyah, won't get one lah" but I really don't want to be selfish and take risks at the expense of my friends and family. Go here to view the statistics of the age groups infected by the virus. Majority of patients fall under <20.>"What worries medical experts is the fact that the virus is hitting young, seemingly healthy individuals. This is really not my excuse to not attend lessons. I just want to take precautions you know? Even though I have to admit that I hate going to classes and doing all that shitty 1st,2nd,3rd meetings and all. But seriously, this is the time where the welfare of ALL the students should be taken care of and NOT JUST THE YEAR 1S! Why is it not better to be safe than sorry? And even NYP is closing school for another week to play safe. This is a democratic country right? In case you didn't know RP, democracy supports social equality. So SHOW ME THE EQUALITY! ARGH! I really don't see why we should be exposed to the dangers like that. I'm sure the figures for the flu will continue to rise in RP if they do not don't take any immediate and appropriate action soon. And by that, the appropriate action would be to close the entire fucking school and see how things go.
And what ammy said further explains why I feel that RP is retarded.
"I'm in sucha weird school. When there wasn't H1N1,they set up all those thermometers and huge ass scanning machines locking up all the other entrace pretending like there was an outbreak. Now that there are really H1N1 cases in our school, they're pretending that it's no big deal and nothing is happening.wtf seriously."
Yah,totally wtf lor! So if you're from RP, and you think that we deserve to be treated equally and should not be exposed to such risks, go here and sign the petition. As well as here to join the group and share your thoughts.
